The map provided here is based on the postcode of the venue.
Royal mail are very good at allocating postcodes to buildings
but much less good at lakes and rivers. Therefore where a
venue does not really have a postcode I have tried to find a
postcode that is as close as possible to the venue. This might
be that of a nearby hotel or even the village post office. You
should therefore always ensure you have proper directions
for the last half-mile or so to the venue.

Type of water:  Small stillwater.
Description:  The fishery covers just over five acres and is stocked regularly with premium quality trout that are grown locally. Surrounded by mixed woodland, this is a peaceful, scenic and sheltered loch. Haddo is often described as the "Wild at heart" fishery, with prolific insect life inviting classic fly fishing with dry fly and imitative nymphs. This is a great place for fishing lightweight tackle and a 3wt to 5wt fly rod with a floating line will serve you well in most conditions.
Season:  The fishery is open daily from 9.30 in the morning all year round (weather permitting).
Species:  Rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, blue trout.
Stocking policy:  Good quality fish stocked on a regular basis
Day tickets:  5 hour and 8 hour tickets.
Other tickets:  A group of eight to twelve anglers can book the fishery for a day, or half day and have the water to themselves!
Catch & release:  Yes, permitted.
Rules:  Barbless hooks.
Boats:  The original lightweight fibreglass boats were replaced by very stable, 19 foot Loch Leven wooden clinkers in 2004. These lovely traditional boats are really great to fish from, but then of course, that was what they were built for. All the boats are fitted with two anchors, you will find a landing net in each one and a nice comfy seat cushion is also provided.
Float tubes:  Yes. Float tubing really took off at the fishery in 2004, when customers were offered the opportunity of using a float tube and flippers at no additional charge. This meant that anglers could try this exciting sport without the expense of buying the kit. There is now an informal Haddo float tube club, which is based on the website forum and we hold regular "float tube gatherings" at the fishery throughout the year.
Tackle shop:  Shop and tackle hire.
Tuition / guiding:  Basic tuition is available
Toilets / changing:  Yes
Refreshments:  Free tea & coffee

Nearest main road:  A96 / A952
Directions:  The easiest way to get to the fishery is to go to Oldmeldrum and take the Turriff / Banff road, as you leave Oldmeldrum turn right at the "Meldrum House Gateway" on to the Methlick / Fraserburgh road ( B9170 ). About half way to Methlick you will come to an open, long bend which forms a junction with the Tarves road ( B999 ). On either side of the junction you will see a "Haddo Trout Fishery" sign and find an entrance to the layby that would have once been the old road. The fishery is in the woods behind this. Turn in to the layby and then drive down the track beside the gatehouse for about fifty yards where you will find a parking area beside the lake. You can now follow the footpath round the lake to the fishery hut and the boats, where it is best to tackle up, as rod rests etc are provided. Please note, the folk living at the gatehouse do not have any connection with the fishery.
